[ICOM] Icom 756 PRO w/Dxbase 6 Trial Issue

I have a friend who downloaded the Trial version of Dxbase Version 6.

His issue is that Dxbase can not read the 756 Pro's VFO A receive frequency.


In general, Dxbase does not read the receive frequency.  Dxbase control of
the 756 PRO does every thing except read the receive frequency information.
In a telephone call, I had him use Tools/Set Frequency application and had
him retrieve the radio frequency.  That Work.  Next, from the log I had him
log contacts and Dxbase was reading VFO A' receive frequency along with the
mode, band, CDROM information, etc.

However, the next morning (after turning the computer and rig back on,
Dxbase does not read the receive frequency, including the Tools/Set
Frequency.  Reading the receive frequency is a none player now.

The friend likes what he sees in Dxbase ver 6, but is very frustrated that
the combined rig/Dxbase is not reading the receive frequency into Dxbase.
He has downloaded another brand name logging program trail and does not have
any problems in the control of the 756PRO including the import of the rig's
receive frequency(s) into the log.  He prefers to purchase Dxbase since it's
the best that he has seen and fits his purpose, but will not if it does not
read the receive frequency.

Any 756 PRO owners' suggestion working with Dxbase will be greatly
appreciated.  I have to make a long drive to take a 'looksee' and would like
to understand if there have been control issues and what remedies have been
take.  The fact that it worked once but stopped means to me there may be a
physical/electrical/timing interface issue.
