I've been using a ClearSpeech mobile with my 706-MkIIg
for several years. I can't recommend it more highly.
Can't imagine mobile operation without it, at least
not for SSB. It's not a good accessory for CW,
however; it seems to work OK on strong signals, but
often drops out the weak CW sigs.

The big thing about this unit is that it GREATLY
reduces operator fatigue caused by background noise.
In mobile operation, acoustic road noise is bad
enough. So getting rid of so much of the background
radio noise is a big help.

I route the output from my ClearSpeech unit through
my car's audio system and speakers. That works far
better than using the speaker in the ClearSpeech.

I'm curious to know about the competitive units on
the market now. I don't know anyone that has one,
so can't make any first-hand comparisons. But I
sure would love to know how the others stack up.
Partly because some of them are physically smaller
and might be easier to incorporate into a mobile
station; physically at least.

To say it once more: Get one of these units. After
you use it for two minutes you'll kick yourself for
not having it sooner.
