[ICOM] anyone have preselector experience?

Hi Steve,

I use an IC-756Pro3 as an exciter for a Yaesu VL-1000 amplifier. I find that
the amplifier's autotuner (a T-network with a large, high-Q inductor)
provides some additional preselection.

The trade-off when using a passive outboard preselector with a high-Q tuned
circuit is that the insertion loss can be fairly high (5 to 10 dB). This may
be significant on the higher bands (14 MHz and above.) The precautions
mentioned in the preselector manual must be observed to avoid damage.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Has anyone used an outboard preselector with their Icom? If so did you
notice an improvement in dynamic range?

I'm interested in maybe buying one of these:
