Sounds like a "priority" or dual watch is turned on. I don't have this
specific radio, but I have one that if you turn on dual watch it does that,
and another that has dual watch permanently on, for memory 1 - the only way
to stop this is to leave memory slot 1 empty.
Look for priority or dual watch in your manual.

Subject: [ICOM] question on IC 208
I recently put a 208 in my car. I programmed about 7 repeaters in that are
in the area, most vhf, but a couple of uhf. I've noticed that when a signal
does come on, approximaely ever 5 seconds, the receive drops out, and comes
right back on. I'm sure I must have something setup wrong for it to do that,
as it is very consistent when this happens. I read the manual, but I'm
missing it.
Also, does Icom have the problem fixed with the IC 746 Pro with transmit
failures? I had an orginal 746 and should have kept it. It did have an swr
foldback problem in my opinion. A 1.5:1 SWR and it was down to 50 watts out.
Thanks....
73, Mike K9MI
