...IN ALL HONESTY, I CAN'T ANSWER. All I found was the "V" version, so  I
can't tell what's different. I'd guess that they shouldn't be too different
and if it works much of the time it is probably only defect, not a misfit.
I'd go for trying to replace the capacitors, before doing anything drastic.
