For years I have had a constant noise to the tune
between S-8 and S-9 strength on my 706MKIIG. DSP, NB
and Noise Reduction plus a digital speaker but it did
not do the job. I have a couple of European neighbors
across the street that are creating the noise. I took
the Baltimore Gas & Electric man with me and got no
where with the wife. The Utility person did not want
to just pull the meter off in the back yard yet! Well
I am still dealing with them before I contact the FCC.
I have pretty much solved my problem to the point I
can operate and my S-meter shows 0 <Zero> noise level.
I turn off the pre-amp and click on the `1.9 SSB
filter or the .50 CW filter as the case may be. So,
until I can deal with my neighbors some more I feel
happy! It is sure nice not to hear any of that noise.
On VE3HLS.com web page he has some various noise files
that you can listen to figure out what kind of noise
you are hearing on your receiver. My findings is that
it is a motor noise that is on constantly.
