Silly question, Mike (but you knew that).  Often these off-topic threads 
are short-lived and die of their own lack of inertia.  Other times they 
need to be nudged in the right direction.  I had already been forced to 
terminate one topic yesterday (the first in a couple of months) and wasn't 
wild about having to kill a second within a matter of hours.  Sometimes 
off-topic participants get the hint, but in both of these cases they didn't.
