Hi Mel,

As I recall, the SM-8 is also a cardioid microphone. The construction of the
head (with a ported baffle behind the element) strongly suggests this. An
omnidirectional microphone usually has a closed baffle behind the element.

I concur... With the edge going to the SM20...

The SM20 is much better if you use VOX due to it's cardioid pattern... The
SM8 is essentially omni directional.
