Hi Des,
ICOM offered the WR-200 (200W PEP, 100W CW) and
WR-2000 (2000W PEP, 1000W CW) SWR/Power meters. These
units used a common meter unit and remote RF sensors.
The WR family could simultaneously monitor SWR and
power, had a selectable AVG/PEP power selection with
an active PEP detector, dual meters, and internal
meter backlighting.
Each meter had three selectable inputs for remote
sensors, and sensors were available that covered up to
1.3 GHz. Sensors were selectable via a front panel
switch on the WR-200/2000. There was also a nice set
of three little leds on the meter, one for each
sensor, that lit when the meter detected individual
sensor power.
The 2 kW PEP "HF" sensor is the ICOM WRC-54 and covers
1.8 to 54 MHz. You should easily be able to find model
info on the other sensors, such as frequency range,
power, etc.
Kenwood offered their SW-200 and SW-2000 SWR/Power
Meters, which look, short of a few minor external
cosmetic differences, identical to the ICOM units. I
have seen both types up close, and I believe that they
were all made by a third party for both ICOM and
Kenwood, with slight cosmetic and badging differences,
of course. I have been told that the sensors are
interchangeable, regardless of whether they say ICOM
or Kenwood. I haven't tried this, but believe it to be
true.
I have pictures of several different units, and if you
would like to see them, please email me off-list and I
can send them to you.
BTW, I am the proud owner of an ICOM WR-2000, it is a
very hard one to find.
