Well, all the bad reports did help me to make up my mind.  

And as luck would have it, there was also an ICOM IC-901A with a bunch of
extras on E-pay.  So I sniped it (I am a good sniper) with 15 seconds left.


We now have TWO IC-901As, one in my jeep that works 28, 50, 144, 220, 440,
and 1260 MHz plus the wide band receiver module.  For the van it is only a
144/440 radio, with the wide band receiver module.  I will look at picking
up modules for the van as time and availability permits.  Still searching
for a reasonably priced SSB module too.

Thanks you-all for the 2720 reports - I decided I just didn't want to take
the chance.
