Mike,
As Mac has stated, most modern rigs will be prone to letting in some
trash but the beauty of the 2720, the 2800 before it, and most newer
Icom dual band rigs is that they have a RF gain control. It has to be
enabled through a menu setting but when enabled the squelch control from
about 12:00 on becomes the RF gain control. Full gain reduction is on
the order of 10 db. I find that when I encounter interference usually
just a modest amount of gain reduction takes care of it. Even in extreme
circumstances when I use full gain reduction, being only 10 db it
doesn't knock out the local repeaters. Filters are nice but if you don't
want to purchase them then just dial in some gain reduction.
