Hello all,

I wonder if some of the persons on this list that have been involved more
with the technical side of Icom in the past, can help.

I have an ex-commercial band transceiver that I have posted messages on this
reflector about before before but not too many were able to help. The radio
in question is the IC-H21T VHF portable.

I want to know how to program the stupid thing. It is currently on
government frequencies that are no longer used here in VK - hence the reason
why I obtained the radio as the authority it belonged to could no longer use
it with vast changes to their comms network - these old transceivers were
not advanced enough to handle it.

The only reference I can find to programming is in the service manual and it
mentions, very briefly, the EX-704. No other mentioning of programming in
either the service manual or instruction manual.

Can someone shed some light on how this thing is programmed or how the
EX-704 works. Even if someone has some info on the EX-704 they could send
would be greatly appreciated.

I want to eventually convert this thing to 2 metres one of these decades.

I contacted Icom Australia who were not much help, only offering to program
it for me if I sent it to them.

I contacted Icom Japan, and they were even less help - advising me that as
the rig is made for the commercial market, they do not provide that sort of
information and instead referred me back to Icom Australia. So on goes the
merry go round.

Thanks for reading my rather long post and I hope someone can help.

Regards,

Des - VK3DMP.
