WELL..

Thanks to the dozen or so folks who returned my call for help. I received
one .pdf of the wiring diagram of the mic. And also Don, N5ENQ, sent me a
.pdf on a tech bulletin for the mic. That he got from ICOM. Seems a common
failure for the mic.

>From the tech bulletin>

"A common failure of the HM56/56A microphone, causing the radio to remain in
TX
mode when the mic is connected, is failure of the electrolytic capacitors on
the microphone
circuit board. Generally, replacing all 5 capacitors on the board repairs
the problem
and allows the microphone to work properly again. This repair is not a
guarantee,
simply a common failure point and reference for repair.
The 5 capacitors on the board are labeled as C3, C4, C7, C13 and C14. They
can be
ordered from the Icom parts department."

Yes, if you want a copy or copies of both, send me YOUR email address
somewhere in the text of the email.

Thanks again to all!

Subject: [ICOM] ICOM HM-56 Mic. Stuck on Xmit

I have a HM-56 touch tone hand mic. I am trying to get working.

When I turn on the radio, it goes into xmit.

I've tried the CPU reset by holding the mw and mr buttons, then turning on
the radio.

That does not help.

The mic. button is not pushed.

Pushing all the buttons does NOT get the red light on the mic ever to
illuminate.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Kent
