[ICOM] 775 PSu problem

I've heard that the PS for the 775 was built for Icom by an outside  
vendor, no longer in business. Also that the PS has no schematic -  
even in the service manual and that Icom can't/won't repair it. I  
heard this yesterday from a ham on 40m using an external supply made  
by Power Mate Corp. in Hackensack, NJ- I have no reason to doubt this  
but can anyone verify it ?
