[ICOM] Info about an AT-500 tuner

Hi Larry,

The AT-500 is a T-network (series C, shunt L, series C.) It is intended to
match loads within an impedance range of 16 to 150 ohms (VSWR < 3:1).

You can download a set of AT-500 documentation here:

http://www.qsl.net/icom/manuals.html

I had an IC-2KL and AT-500 in my station for 10 years, without the slightest
problem. I would not recommend applying more than 500W CW or PEP SSB to the
tuner, especially if load VSWR > 1.5.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] Info about an AT-500 tuner

A friend is thinking about getting one. What is the topology inside?
Tee, PI, L etc. Is is basically a match for low SWR antennas such as less
than 5:1 SWR? Any bad/good comments.

Thanks and 73,
Larry, W0QE
