Hi Bob,
I use a Heil Goldline with an IC-756Pro2 (and also with its predecessor, a
756Pro). The mic has the integral wide-range moving-coil element and the
HC-5. The switch is marked Wide/Nar to select one of the two elements. The
frequency-response curves of the two elements are on the Heil site:
http://www.heilsound.com/
These are the default settings I use with the HC-5:
Bass: -2 dB
Treble: +3 dB
Comp ON, Comp control set for 3 to 5 dB compression on voice peaks (11 to 12
o'clock) Occupied bandwidth MID (COMP-ON-MID) Mic Gain: 12 o'clock
With the HC-4, you can try the following:
Bass: 0 dB
Treble: +2 dB
Comp ON, Comp control set for 3 to 5 dB compression on voice peaks (11 to 12
o'clock) Occupied bandwidth NAR(COMP-ON-NAR) Mic Gain: 12 o'clock. This is
the "pileup-buster" setting.
With the GoldLine Pro, you can start with these settings:
Bass: -3 dB
Treble: +3 dB
Comp ON, Comp control set for 3 to 5 dB compression on voice peaks (10 to 11
o'clock) Occupied bandwidth MID (COMP-ON-MID) Mic Gain: 12 o'clock
On the 756Pro3, the default low and high cutoff-frequency settings for WIDE,
MID and NAR should be OK.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] 756PRO transmit audio
Hello,
What are some favorite transmit audio setting you folks that have Heil Pro
mics are using? I have both the 4 and 5 element in the the Pro mic and the 4
in the headset boom mic.
What do you use for casual conversation?
What do you use for contesting/pileup busting?
Compression levels?
Mic gain?
Thanks
Bob
