Sounds like you two are effectively running a Mult-Two station. You will
have to take the steps which contesters do to prevent rig damage and receiver
de-sense. These may include:
1. Band pass filters
2. Coax stubs
3. Insuring that you don't operate on the same band at the same time, or at
least the same band segment..
4. Using cross polarized antennas. (i.e. if he's using a vertical, you use
horizontal)
5. Grounding unused antennas
6. A high-Q antenna tuner
I'm quite sure that your PRO II would have an unhappy reaction if you tuned
your receiver to the same frequency where your neighbor was calling CQ with a
KW.
I have a Ham neighbor who lives about 0.4 miles away. When he's running
digital modes on 20 Meters (14.070~14.100) at 100 watts or less, I am aware of his
presence anywhere I am receiving on 20. (noise floor on band scope rises
about 30 dB and I notice receiver de-sense.) I'm glad he doesn't live next door!
