For two principal reasons:  Because the reflector archive search facility 
isn't all that helpful and because many people only join the reflector when 
they have a specific question to ask.

While long-time reflector residents might see common questions asked 
several times each year, to the person asking the question it is brand 
new.  They are asking for our help.  That's why we are here.
