You add the chip quick solder to the existing connections and it lowers the 
melting temperature of that connection.  Some people then use hot air to 
melt all of the solder connections at the same time however I have found 
that just moving the soldering pencil from point to point will melt them 
all.  I must confess I have used it on small pin count SMD's.  Maximum of 8 
pins (IC151 on my PROII) so far.  The heat applied to the pins (and 
component) releases the cement.

Perhaps a Google search on Chip Quick will give you more and better 
information.
