[ICOM] IC-T2H critique

Now that I have read and reread the manual and set up the
software and programmed the memory, etc., I have an opinion
on the radio. Simply, for an updated and inexpensive
replacement for the old standby IC-2AT, it is worth the
purchase.

Here come the buts now. Why in the world would an advanced
technology company like ICOM use a lousy DOS program for
their programming software?! It isn't even possible to use a
mouse with it, just keyboard. If you hit a wrong key the
program locks up.

The radio lacks sufficient DTMF channels and has way too way
too few keys allowed for customization mode. Only 8 keys can
be reprogrammed and at least 15 features available. The keys
available for reprogramming are mostly ones you never want
to be without (except maybe LOCK).

All this ANI and cloning crap is a total waste. They don't
tell you but if you plug a stereo mini plug into the speaker
jack it kills the operation. It is beyond me why they did
not provide a knob for frequency control.

All in all, the radio is plain basic radio, sturdy, easy to
operate in it's basic mode and has great audio and a terific
speaker, the butrtons are easy to push for someone with
large fingers and sticking with a BNC connector on the
antenna is super idea and indispensable for mobile. They
should not be trying to sell it as a feature laden high tech
radio, it is just a SIMPLE BASIC RADIO considering the
current state of the art.
