[ICOM] Pro III vs. Orion (I or II?)

Hi Everyone,

Check out the Ten Tec reflector for today.  Ten Tec today announced the discontinuation of the Orion after three troubled years to be replaced by the 'Orion II' in October 2005 with many hardware revisions including a new control processor and yesindeedie a TFT color display.

I have been a loyal Ten Tec customer in years gone by and in the recent past have been disappointed in the zealot-like chiding and berating that some on that reflector have directed towards ICOM for multi-generational transceivers like the Pro series.  Something they would never have to endure with TT.    Hmmm.....

As for me I sincerely hope that the Orion II is a knock-out performer as we ALL benefit from such manufacturing competition in the end with better products and support.

All of this further underlines to me that the Pro III and 7800 are setting standards that others are seeking to emulate (IMO unsuccessfully) at this time.
