Two different radios gave me two different matching between the radio and
the INPUT of the amplifier.
I had a Yaesu 980 and an ICOM 751a (currently on eBay) the swr of the 980
was much higher than the 751a.
The amplifier is a home brewed 8877 with special attention given to the
input circuit since all solid state radios
ten years ago had no antenna tuner so I build the input with toroids and
tuned to perfection to 50 ohms with noise bridge
so the input did not present a capacitive or a inductive load, yet both
radios saw the input differently.
I don't think your 811H has an input network like the one I have so you
might have to tweak the input a bit
If you can do it with a noise bridge it will be much better.
I will be interested to know what you did and what the result was.

> I have a new Icom IC-746pro. When I try to use my Ameritron 811H amp the
rig will trip the relay on the amp but the SWR shows very high on the
746pro. When I have the amp in standby or off the SWR is almost 1:1 and the
radio puts out power. I radio set on about 30 watts output. I am not using
the tuner in the radio, it is off. I am using a resonant antenna with very
low SWR. I had this exact same setup on my previous radio, a Kenwood
TS-850. It ran the amp just fine. I purchased an after-market amp keying
cable that is made for the 746pro. I have also tried this with a straight
cable and I get the same results..
