Hi Jim,

There were 3 versions of the IC-751A:

1. "Old logo" (barred egg), PBT. Manufactured until 1989, S/N 1000 to
approx. 45XX.

2. "New" logo, IF shift. 1989 - 1990, S/N approx. 45XX to 55XX. Introduced
as a result of the PBT patent-infringement affair. PBT reinstatement info
here:

3. "New" logo, PBT. 1990 - 1993, S/N approx. 55XX to 9XXX. Product line
discontinued in 1993.

The FL-32 (9 MHz CW, 9 MHz, 500 Hz BW) was stock in all versions of the
IC-751A. Adding the FL-52A (455 kHz CW, 500 Hz BW) dramatically improves PBT
operation in "CW Narrow" mode.

The earliest units tend to exhibit failure of electrolytic capacitors and of
the DC-DC converter transformer on the display board. All versions are
subject to the notorious HPL VCO trimmer failure syndrome.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Does anyone know when Icom changed the logo on the 751A... It went from a
capitol I to an i with a round circle above instead of the dot....

Also do you know when the 500 Hz CW (9 MHz) filter was installed as a stock
filter....

Thanks and 73
Jim W7RY
