[ICOM] RE: Which radio to buy

No company is without sin, including Icom. I have an Icom 756 Pro
which is excellent in many ways except when my neighbor is on the air
when the receiver simply goes somewhere else and says "goodby,
receive later".. However, I purchased an Icom marine radio which
failed the second day I used it; sent it to their repair facility in
Washington and was returned to me with a note which read "salt
damage, not covered under warranty". The radio was clean and "new"
in every sense of the word. I opened it after it was returned and
it was completely clean and undamaged by salt or any other
contaminant inside. As a matter of fact it was sold as a water
resistant radio and it was installed inside the boat's cabin where
water couldn't reach it. Buyer beware with every company including
Icom. Buy months after a new radio is introduced and bugs have been
worked out and cross your fingers.
