[ICOM] ICOM QSK

I'm surprised also. ICOM should mention "improved keying in QSK mode".

That would be a big selling feature in my mind.

One of the reasons I love Ten Tec transceivers is their (usually) excellent
QSK without shortening. They got that right. Ten-Tec also was a pioneer in
low distortion transmit and receive audio - Ten Tec's founder (K4FW) was
also the founder of Electro-Voice - which makes high quality audio
equipment.

With excellent QSK, some opt to accept that feature over other very
desirable features provided by ICOM. The race is getting closer now.

ICOM also has it's claims to fame - their HF and VHF radios have always led
the way in engineering quality, although in my mind sometimes they haven't
paid as much attention to the "little things" as they could have. Perhaps
they didn't balance the "engineer" and the "operator" as well as Ten-Tec
did?

When I use a radio and find that the manufacturer got the "little things"
right, like the volume and r.f. gain in an easy to operate position, or
something like a real sample of the r.f. output of the transmitter section
for "monitor" output, or getting the QSK correct and the "turn around" delay
very short for handshaking digital modes, I smile and know that someone at
the Company has "been there".

BRAVO ZULU ICOM
