This is a 'one-way' transmission: Replies will NOT be read.
Being of sound mind and body (well almost) and of zero BAC, I submit my last
will and testament:
This group seems to be deteriorating into a morass of 'what is the latest and
greatest' (not to mention the most expensive) while, at the same time,
becoming a catchall for the lesser informed segment of the Amateur Radio world. We
not only have folks who don't know that "73s" is incorrect, we also have those
who can't distinguish "to" from "too" and other similar issues. (By the way,
because this is my last opportunity, the wires that keep towers and utility
poles from falling over are called GUY wires. They are not 'guide' wires or even
'guyed' wires. You guy the tower, not the wire!)
Some list members don't even seem to be able to tie their shoes without
advice or guidance! And, I haven't even touched on all of the OVER-quoting and
other bad list behavior that seems to get worse instead of better. It seems there
are a number of list members who feel compelled to participate in each and
every topic with no regard for the value of their contribution or for their
expertise or lack thereof.
Even after switching to the daily digest mode several months ago, I have not
found enough useful information here to justify reading the 2 to 5 digest
messages that arrive every day.
Oh, don't get me wrong - It's not all bad. Gary Fiber is a creditable and
worthy resource. As is Clif Holland when he can be persuaded to participate.
There are others as well. Of course, there's Dick who tries hard but his liberal
nature (my observation and opinion) may be a hindrance at times. Although, I do
admire his patience.
And, then, there are the recent (14!) contributions concerning the Icom Japan
website . . .
In short, enough is more than enough. See ya . . .
Frag away,
Bill
PS I'll leave it to you guys to come up with the remainder of the 73 reasons
to unsubscribe . . . Boy! Maybe I should stick around to see that? Nah . . .
PPS Almost forgot: I leave my resolve and my insistence that everyone stand
on their own two feet to all of you - Use them wisely rather than not at all.
If you've read this far, congratulations: You have finally achieved minority
status - Go apply for something!
