[ICOM] Anybody install a 706MKIIG in a 2005 Dakota?

For what it is worth, here is my experience with the 706MKIIG.
I do not have noise. The installation details are:
The radio is in the trunk of a 2004 Honda Accord. The battery connection
is through a pair of # 8 wires directly to the battery. The positive wire
has
a high current choke in series (removed from a computer power supply).
On the radio side of the choke, there is a 8,000 mF electrolytic capacitor
paralleled with 100 mF Tantalum, paralleled with 0.1 and 0.01 mF ceramic
capacitors. The choke and capacitors are approximately 10" from the radio.
However, the radio is quiet. The DC power wires are fused a few inches from
the battery and again at the radio. Also on the radio side there is a 40 A
silicon
rectifier connected in reverse and parallel with the capacitors (just in
case
there is a negative spike). Is this an overkill, possibly? In addition,
there is a
1/2' braid connected from the radio ground to the body of the car
(approximately
18" long).
I do not have an HF antenna. However, I do have a long untuned whip which
is used to receive WWV and other AM stuff (not frequently). The radio is
used
mostly for 70 cm and 2 m. The antenna is mounted on the trunk lid edge.
To play it safe, I had an Auto Audio outfit route the power wires from the
battery
and control unit to the trunk. They know how to do it well, which they did.
It was
worth the money.
I hope this may help.
