[ICOM] Anybody install a 706MKIIG in a 2005 Dakota?

I installed mine in a 2001 Toyota Tacoma. Had, and still have, noise up the
ying-yang. Did all I could to the vehicle with no significant reduction in
noise level. After talking to a number of hams who also installed the MKIIG
and trying a couple of different radios in the vehicle, I am now convinced
that the majority of the noise is the fault of the radio itself. My rig is
over sensitive in my opinion, a trait that one would kill for in a base
installation but not desireable with a mobile setup. I guess in an effort
to cover the spectrum from DC to light, one has to expect some loss of other
parameters. Don't get me wrong, I love the radio. I just have to be
satisfied with a constant S-5 noise level in the truck. I should point out
that this problem with my radio is not a trait shared by all MKIIG's
however. Some seem to handle mobile installations just fine. I guess I
just didn't get lucky.

For what it's worth.
