...why, it SHOULD be embarrassing to all the "service providers" that go
down every time some disaster hits an area!!!
It has been proven over and over that during emergencies, the last to go
down are the radio amateurs. They ARE set up to operate on emergency power
with portable equipment from whatever place they can string up the antenna.
I have a friend who operated during a field emergency drill from a cars
cemetery: he fished out a few half dead batteries an operated for 36 hours
from what was recognized as a dead area.
Isn't that embarrassing?
