[ICOM] Best antenna for 706 mobile?

Hello all,
I am using a screwdriver on the front of my 4x4 and am very happy with it
performance wise although there have been reliability problems associated
with the motor.
I am thinking about experimenting with a helical or continuously loaded whip
as an extension of Icom's AH-2b idea, together with the AH-4
Has anyone else tried this approach or can anyone offer some advice on the
losses that might occur within the AH-4 particularly on the lower bands.
If performances on 80 and 40 metres are not going to be too dissimilar
between the loaded whip and screwdriver I will go with the whip for greater
ease of use - just push the tune button and things are ready.
Otherwise if the screwdriver has the winning hand over the AH-4 / whip
combination then I will stick with that.
The reason I ask this question is that someone may have already tried this
and knows how well or how poorly it worked.
Would be grateful for any ideas.
Best regards to all,
Des - VK3DMP.
