Thanks for all the input! I was sent a .pdf of the manuals for both the
PS-701 and IC-701 and also made aware of the ICOM site where the manual
could be downloaded.
Rearding the instability: I know that my power supplies are fine...both
my normal bench supply (no sag at full transmitter output power on CW)
and the battery system run by a New-Mar marine float charger work well
with my FT-301D.
The possibility of a bad regulator circuit associated with the
synthesizer certainly exists but now I have to find a complete schematic
for the rig... that is not a part of the manual on the ICOM site...just
a block diagram but that does show the general configuration of the
8-volt regulators and the -9-volt DC/DC converter. That's a start!
