[ICOM] IC-701

I have recently acquired an IC-701 and have seen conflicting reports as 
to the DC voltage required for proper operation. In various places I 
have seen 13.8-volts (what I would expect) but I have also seen a value 
of 18 or 19 volts based on the fact (?) that the original power supply 
for the '701 had an unregulated output in that range and all regulation 
takes place in the transceiver.

Which information is correct? I have used a 13.8 volt supply but have 
noted some random frequency instability which causes me to wonder about 
this issue.
