Take into account that the loading coil diameter determines the efficiency 
of your center loaded mobile vertical.
4" = optimum for 40 meter, 5" = optimum for 80 meter (75)
Top loading with a cap hat is an efficient way of reducing the amount of 
coil loading (and losses) and the overall length.
Performance comes at a price, quality is never cheap but in the end you get 
what you pay for.
While tooling down the highway this morning I just made some casual contacts 
into the Pacific on 40 meter and a few nice Pan European QSO's on 80.
