Doug:

I've had very good luck with the Hustler system over the years but when I
decided to improve my mobile antenna system, I went with the TarHeel Model
100 Screwdriver.

But in between I bought and entertained the thought of a AH-4 and a long
(Hustler-based) whip. I wrestled with putting the AH-4 outside and did not
want to degrade my car with holes that would be difficult to hide at
trade-in time. I abandoned the idea of installing the AH-4 in the trunk due
to long lead length and the fact that it radiates.

In my case, I put what I had in the AH-4 toward a screwdriver which
eliminates (additional) loading coils and couplers. With used AH-4's going
for $200 or more, you're well on the way toward the price of a screwdriver.

Good Luck; you'll enjoy the IC-706m2g mobile. I do.

Installing it in the trunk would not have been a good approach
