[ICOM] ICOM Tuner ???

Mike,

The MN-100 series are similar in design to the B+W
broadband folded dipole. Inside the white plastic case
where the PL-259 connector attaches is a termination
network, and the dipole elements are across the
termination. This creates a very broadband match at HF
with low return loss, and the wire dipole elements are
excited by the voltage across the termination and
radiate with low efficiency, as most of the supplied
RF current is dissipated in the termination.

The device is not really a "Tuner" although the net
effect, a broadband match across the HF spectrum,
gives the appearance of an antenna that "tunes" itself
automatically.

This device was primarily intended to be used in
marine applications, such as sailboats, where an
autotuner and random wire are not used, for whatever
reason.
