If you can find a used one at that price (and I believe you could with
careful shopping) a TS-2000 would be my choice.  Fully adjustable DSP based
IF bandwidth and DSP based noise reduction make it a Super rig for SSB or
CW. I have had mine now for almost 2 years now and I love it.  For my money
you have to move up to the IC-756ProII to make any serious challenge to the
TS-2000 and that is quite a spread of cash difference. My complaint/desired
feature would be a slower tuning rate with extended display down to hz. like
my IC-706MKiiG would do, but that is my only complaint. FWIW.
