[ICOM] IC-706 MKII and CI-V Cable

I have been reading a few messages about the CI-V cable to interface Icom
radios to computers.  I have read a few comments that make me think some
users are connecting two rigs together to clone them.  Can two IC-706 rigs
be cloned by connecting them together with one cable or are users copying
the data into the computer and back to the rigs they are cloning?
