Hello Don,
What do you mean by the words "full audio on phone" and "analog sound on
CW"?
These terms have no meaning to me. Do you mean "full audio range", "full
audio fidelity"; the comment about "analog sound on CW" leaves me suspended
in mid-air - the ICOM audio output is analog, isn't it?
Also you mention the TS480 and then mention "full output on the phone
modes", are you talking about transmitter power or audio sound?
You've lost me in your description. I am totally confused.

The consensus seems to be that the Pro III is more similar to the
Pro II than it is different. That's great, but for my next transceiver I
was looking for something that has full audio on phone like the Icom
Pro series, but an analog sound on CW, like the K2.
I bought a new Kenwood TS480, which despite having the physical
size of an IC706, QSK's and receives like an analog Ten Tec plus
has rich, full output on the phone modes like the 756p series.
If you'd like the sound of a 'Pro in a package that goes on the
road, the 480 is worth a look. I've got mine in the hamshack,
connected to the computer - also very FB!
