==========
The fact remains, in an A/B test of the Orion vs the Pro 2 (and many
other receivers) at K6SE, the Pro 2 was far better than the Orion at
digging weak CW signals out of the noise on both 160 meters and 10
meters.
W4ZV has expounded in the past about his prowess in winning contests
using the Orion. On 160m, he uses a huge transmitting antenna and an
assortment of Beverage antennas.
K6SE, using the Pro 2, has twice won world-high plaques for the Stew
Perry 160m contest, won the Zone 3 high score plaque in a CQ 160m CW
contest and set a new Southwest Division record in the ARRL 160m contest.
The antenna used for all of these was a temporary balloon-supported
1/4-wave vertical made of #22 AWG wire. No special receive antennas were
used.
