there anywhere we can download a sound file of the record-setting event?

Scott the 40 uW and 27 uW record signals were so weak
that I was concentrated on deciphering them and not recording.
At those levels signals are typically only audible in 30 second
bursts. W6ELProp estimated the 27 uW signal strength to be -6 dB
below the noise floor, so it would not have recorded well. (The
practiced human ear can hear ~10 dB below the noise floor using
its internal 50 Hz filter).

There is a recording below of the same beacon at 80 uW. Best
heard using headphones and WinAMP with the equalizer peaked on 310 Hz.
The tone is 270 Hz which I like for extremely weak signals. The 80 uW
recording is actually a little better than the one at 170 uW. The
codeword "ROGER" is most audible at 1-5 seconds into the recording.

N2XE tells me he will be running tests tomorrow at 10-15 uW
and everyone is invited to listen on 3545.5. That's going to be
a real challenge since the signal will be at the theoretical limit
for the human ear if my W6ELProp numbers are right. These tests are
interesting if you like to practice listening for weak signals. He's
running QRO 5 watts tonight on 1999.6 hoping that someone across
the pond can copy! More info on N2XE's site:
