I own both a 756PRO and a FT-1000D. The 1000D has two receivers
inside the same box. Those two receivers can use different antennas,
different modes, different bands, and even different filter passbands.

The 756PRO is very limited in this - you can easily monitor two freqs
on the same mode on the same band, but anything else is more
complicated, or even impossible.

I cannot check your specific question about listening 80 while
working 40 because I have stubs on my antennas and cannot use 80 and
40 on the same radio without rewiring everything. BUT - as I recall
from playing with this a couple years ago, the only bands I can
expect to work+listen are 20/15/10 - you can probably listen OK on 15
while working 20, etc, but that is probably the limit. Maybe another
PRO/2/3 owner can check this in more detail. Concerning 20+6 - I
don't think so.

My Ft-1000D is in a closet right now, so I am reporting on it based
on my recollection of how it works.
