This in fact may be true... But these results are with your antennas,
your noise, your location your operating skills... etc... etc...

Lots of talk in this thread about how receivers compare.

As a 160-meter DXer, I've compared a lot of receivers in an effort to
find the "best" for my purpose. My comparison tests were
straightforward. I would do an on-air A/B test of the receivers by
seeing which would perform best in digging extremely weak CW signals out
of the noise on both 160m and 10m. The antenna would be quick-switched
between rigs during the tests. FWIW, here are the results, from best to
worst:

 1) Elecraft K2 with KDSP2
 2) Icom IC-756Pro3
 3) Icom IC-756Pro2
 4) Icom IC-746Pro
 5) Yaesu FT-1000MP w/ INRAD front-end mod
 6) Kenwood TS-870S
 7) Kenwood TS-830S
 8) Yaesu FT-1000D
 9) Icom IC-775DSP
10) Icom IC-746
11) Kenwood TS-850S
12) Ten Tec Omni 6+
13) Ten Tec Orion
