[ICOM] 756 Tested, front-end attenuation etc.

Hi Hans,

I feel very honoured by that nickname! Here is some further discussion of
front-end attenuation and its use in some AGC systems. Some excellent
comments by George W5YR are included.

Some years ago, there was a passionate debate about front-end AGC and
attenuation on some of the reflectors. The main point was completely missed:
the attenuation increases the receiver's dynamic range, at the cost of
throwing away NF which is unusable on most HF sites anyway (especially on
the lower bands.)

Cheers for now, 73,

Hello Adam (Icom-Einstein),

Excellent article on your site!

E.g. your conclusions; 'a much quieter receiver and increased IP-3', after
inserting Attenuation, are very important statements.
