John: I bought a Pro during a closeout after the Pro II's and 746 Pro's were available. I do not regret one bit having bought a Pro. I like to chase low band DX on 75 and It performs very well on 6 meters also. I recommend you get the Pro and use the savings to improve your antenna system. Larry K4LXV.
