Hi Dave,
Depends if the unit is unlocked on all frequency's or if it is just
partially unlocked. Most of Icom PLL units used a trimmer capacitor that
after they have aged fail and need to be replaced with a higher quality
ceramic trimmer. This failure usually causes a range of freq to either
warble or lose tx and rx. The IC-725/726 also has the DDS Loop that drifts
and there is a coil (L30)that has to be adjusted by spreading the turns of a
coil to the correct voltage at 14.12650MHZ.
