Karl,
Just like Dick recommended. Check the voltage right at the connector near the radio while transmitting or when this trouble appears. If 12 volts or below that is most likely the problem.. When not running the auto's engine you might switch to as low as power you can and keep the conversation going. That may result in less of a voltage drop to the 207H.
With todays microprocessors and radios really designed for 13.8 volts, the nominal charging voltage of an auto, these radios do strange things when presented with low operating voltage. If you are using a cigar lighter adaptor get rid of it. The connection is terrible, you will drop a volt or two acriss it expecially using high power. Lastly you could be getting some RFI into the radio via the mic or seperation cable. Sometime relocation of the antenna or even antenna feedline wil fix the problem.
