I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions and stories on their
experiences with repairing Icom radios, both on the reflector, as well as
in personal e-mails sent directly to me.

Rather than specifically address everyone directly, I thought I'd provide a
"summary" of recommendations, in no particular order, of the repair
facilities recommended by list members.

Many of the shops are "reviewed" on eHam, and satisfaction with their
performance varies from mid-range (3.5) to a virtually completely unanimous
opinion that services provided were a 5 out of 5. And here they are:

Land Air Communications, New York City
         http://www.landaircom.com/

Amateur Radio Service, Portland OR (503) 554 8831
         budgarside at juno.com

KI4NR, John Bolduc, Orange City FL
         lpcwireless at cfl.rr.com

Malcolm Technical Service, Toledo, WA
         http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/mts/

Icom America, Bellvue, WA
         http://www.icomamerica.com/

Burghardts, Watertown, SD
         http://www.burghardt-amateur.com/

The Radio Doctor, N4DA, Cartersville, GA
         http://www.n4da.com/index.htm

Midwest Technical Services, Watertown, SD
         http://www.midwest-technical.com/repairs.html

I've noticed a wide range of shop rates ($35 - 60 an hour), as well as a
range of warranty periods (from 30 to 60 days) from the repair shops listed
above. I've sent an e-mail asking for quotes from several of the
businesses, and now its time for me to make a decision.

Again, my thanks to everyone who took the time to reply!

73,
Joe
WDØM
