Hello all,
Turned my 756 Pro on this morning, and plugged my paddle into the back
jack. Found that I had a steady key when I hit the dot side, and
nothing on the dash side. This has been in storage since mid-December,
just got things set back up after a move from NC to FL. I had noticed
the last several months before packing that occassionally it acted like
the dash contact were dirty, I'd have to hold it extra long, or real
hard, but it would finally start doing OK.
I checked the CW setup menu, it is set OK. I changed the menu option
for UP/DOWN buttons "on" mic, and it does dot/dash functions OK. I've
reset the CPU twice, that didn't help the problem either.
I checked the voltage on the dot/dash lines to the paddle, have a
steady 4.6v on the dot side that works normal (when contacts are open),
but the dash side wanders around from 0 to 4 volts. When you hit the
dash side on the paddle it goes to 0 volts, but wanders around, and
slowly climbs over a minute or so period. I know lot of radio's have a
pull-up resistor internally to +5 volts, that's why I was checking
voltages. The DOT line looks normal, but it acts like it's in the
straight key mode, it stays continually keyed as long as the paddle is
held in the dot position. Anyone seen this problem? Any ideals?
