[ICOM] Mounting the Ic-706MkIIG in a 1998 Ford Taurus

Hello everyone, 
    
 This is my first post to this list but I need help with a mobile installation. I have a 1998 Ford Taurus sedan and would appreciate any suggestions about installing the transceiver in the trunk and the control head up front? So far I can't even find a way to get a power cable through the firewall and into the trunk? Also what is the recommended size conductors for a 25 foot run? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated, even to the point that perhaps others have found that this vehicle has serious ignition noise or other challenges ?
