Hi Tim:
I replaced the 455kHz filter in my TS-140 with the Inrad 2.1 kHz filter.
Skirt selectivity went up beautifully but I got in trouble with the offset,
kind of shift in the zero beat point. Voices sound high pitched a little and
I have to play around with the IF shift in order to get them back. If you do
the replacement I suggest you figure a way to be able to switch back and
forth between the 2 filters- something lie a small slide switch at each end
(NOT a DPDT switch!!!). Alternatively be prepared to realign the BFO.
Also, be very careful when you lift the old filter out: in my radio
the pin holes of the filter were plated through and I managed to tear them
off. I had to hunt half a day to figure out how come the radio went dead:
one of the holes carries DC for the second mixer supply.
